Ariana Grande Releases Emotional Statement After Crying Onstage: ‘I’m Still Processing A Lot’
The "thank u, next" singer got visibly emotional as she tried to get through the song's lyrics “Before you speak, don’t move/ ‘Cause I don’t wanna wake up" during a show in St. Louis over the weekend. In videos shared online by fans, you can see Grande fighting back tears, shaking her head and trying to cover her face.
In the last two years, the 26-year-old has been through more than any person ever should. After seemingly finding the strength to get through the devastating Manchester Area bombing that claimed the lives of 22 fans during her Dangerous Woman concert in 2017, Grande is still grieving her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller, who passed away in September from an apparent overdose. In the same year, she also ended her engagement to Pete Davidson.
Now, in a since-deleted message posted to Instagram, the pop star explained why she cried onstage.
"I feel everything very intensely and have committed to doing this tour during a time in my life when I’m still processing a lot," Grande wrote. "So sometimes I cry a lot! I thank you for accepting my humanness. I’m not sure what I did to deserve to meet so many loving souls every night / to feel so much love, but I want you to know that it really does carry me through. I feel it and appreciate it. and all of you [so] much.”
She continued, "I want you to know that if you are hurting, you can push through and are not alone. It is hard to balance taking care of the people around you, doing your job, and healing/ taking care of yourself at the same time… but I want you to know, you aren’t alone and I think you’re doing great. love you.”
