This year marks the 7th Annual Corey Couples Classic golf tournament held in Woodstock, New Brunswick put on by Corey Ford and Corey Hyundai. Jolene Wallace and I had a chance to speak with Wes Corey over the phone about what's happening this year and how the annual event began.

The tournament has become so popular that the registration for couples was filled back in June and the event is expected to take place on August 17th, 18th an 19th. It's a weekend of golf, music, food and fun with a final wine and cheese reception.

Money raised from the event goes towards the Children's wish foundation. The Children's wish foundation has been granting wishes since 1969. Wes mentioned there are about 50 children on the list province-wide with about 3 or 4 in his area currently waiting for wishes to be fulfilled.

Jolene Wallace and I spoke with Wes Corey on the phone about the event. Wes also told the story about how the charity began. It all started with a young girl's wish for a pink Mustang:

This year's tournament differs from years past. The money raised will be split and donated to help a child with their wish and to a young family with a parent who has a debilitating or terminal disease.

Wes says that fundraisers such as this can either be hot or cold and this one has taken a bit of a dive recently, but local people and businesses are doing what they can to keep the fundraiser going. Donations will be accepted throughout the weekend of the event.
