Police say a 33-year-old man was critically injured as a result of an accidental shooting in Hermon late Monday afternoon.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to 67 Swan Road at 5:20 p.m. for the report of an accidental shooting. Police were told that 38-year-old Joshua Ireland of Hermon accidentally shot 33-year-old Andrew Husson of Hampden. Husson was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. Police say at no time were members of the public in danger because of this incident.

The Maine State Police, Hermon Ambulance and Bangor Rescue assisted on scene.
