5 Places in our Area to Adopt Your Next Pet
With the recent cold weather, I want to do my part and help keep pets safe and warm. I think all pets deserve to have a home to call their own. Many animals spend the majority of their lives in a shelter or have been abused by people who shouldn't even own an animal.
We can can help by adopting a pet into our families. There are many animal shelters and humane societies in our area that are always trying to place adoptable animals with their “Fur-ever” homes. I, myself, have adopted two dogs from our local humane societies. I fell in love with them both the second I saw them. I guess you could say I have a soft spot for dogs. But it’s not just dogs that shelters are trying to adopt out, cats need homes as well.
I’ve compiled a list of animal shelters and humane societies in our area in case you want to add that special pet to your family this holiday season.
- Ark Animal Sanctuary in Houlton.
- Halfway Home Pet Rescue in Caribou.
- The Carleton County Animal Shelter in Debec, New Brunswick.
Please check out these shelters and maybe, just maybe, you’ll go home with your “Fur-ever” pet. Maybe you can’t adopt a pet; there are other ways to help: you could donate cleaning supplies, pet food, or even make a monetary donation.
