A 4-year-old boy and 31-year-old woman were seriously injured Wednesday after their car crashed into trees on Middle Road in Woolwich.

Woman had to be Extricated from the Vehicle

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office said Chloe Monsen from Bath had to be extricated from the vehicle after her Toyota Rav-4 left the road, hit a group of trees and stopped in the roadway.

Child was in Safety Seat

The 4-year-old had serious injuries. He was “secured in a child-safety seat, preventing more critical injuries,” said Deputies.

Woman Flown by LifeFlight to Hospital

Monsen was flown to Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight with serious injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt, said police.

The 4-your-old was taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

Police said Crash Appears “Alcohol Related”

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office said “evidence appears to indicate it was alcohol related, however speed does not appear to be a contributing factor.”
