
36-Year-Old Man Sentenced for Illegally Entering U.S. in Maine
A 36-year-old man was sentenced for illegally entering the U.S. after prior removal.
Pleaded Guilty to Charges
Josue Osmin Montoya Acosta from Honduras was given time served, approximately 93 days. He pleaded guilty on April 3, 2025.
Arrested after Traffic Stop
The Brunswick Police Department arrested Montoya Acosta on February 25, 2025 after a traffic stop for no front license plate and a light out on the rear plate. The rear plate was a temporary license plate from Indiana.
No Driver’s License and No Visa
Montoya Acosta gave officers a Honduran passport when asked for a driver’s license. He also said he did not have a visa to be in the U.S.
Previously Removed Two Times
“Immigration records showed that he had previously been removed on two prior occasions,” said the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Chief Investigators
The case was investigated by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Brunswick Police Department.
