Now in its 4th year since its opening on December 1st, the Stillwater River Trail of Lights in Orono promises a festive haven for folks who love holiday lights.

Enjoy a festive stroll with overhead lights, illuminated tunnels, decorated trees, animated nutcrackers with watchful eyes, and numerous photo opportunities for those immersed in the holiday spirit—because, let's face it, if you're on this walk, you're definitely feeling festive!

Among the trail's highlights, one standout sight was the clever repurposing of a 12-foot giant skeleton, now donned in a Santa hat and overseeing a color-changing Christmas tree—a clear testament to extending its use beyond the spooky season.

Furthermore, the Stillwater River Trail organizers proudly declare that it is entirely free! While there is no admission fee, for those inclined to support and ensure the trail's continuation, a donation box is strategically placed, and a Venmo account is ready to receive contributions.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, organizers offer some important guidelines:

• Respect the lights and displays by staying on the designated trail and avoiding wooded areas for your safety and the preservation of the lights.
• Refrain from sitting on displays, except for designated benches and sleighs, including children.
• Wear appropriate footwear due to variable trail conditions caused by weather fluctuations.
• Parking is available at 92 Bennoch Rd, Orono, but be warned, it fills up quickly.

The trail is open nightly from 4 pm until 9 pm, Sunday through Thursday, and until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday, weather permitting. Please adhere to the designated hours to avoid disruptions, as trail activities are monitored, and after-hours visits are not permitted.
