The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) announced the AA/A/B North and South, and C/D North and South player selections for 2018 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games.

Student-athletes representing more than 100 high schools from across the state have been honored with selection to the All-Star team in their school classification, or to the All-State Academic Team.  All-Star teams were selected based upon ballot returns in a statewide high school basketball coaches’ vote conducted by the MABC in January.  Twenty coaches were named a 2018 Coach of the Year in another vote conducted by MABC, and those coaches will coach the All-Star team in their respective classification.

The 2018 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games will take place Saturday, March 10, at Newman Gym on the campus of Husson University in Bangor.  The game-day program will feature head-to-head competition between top players in the state in North vs. South basketball action.  Tip off – times for each of the March 10 All-Star Games are as follows:

8:30 – 9:00 am               State Foul Shooting Championship

9:15 – 10:30 am              Girls AA/A/B Game

10:45 – 12:00 am            Boys AA/A/B Game

12:00 – 12:15 pm            MABC Presentations/ RMHC Maine Presentation

12:15 – 12:30 pm            All-Star Girls Three Point Shooting Competition

12:30 – 12:45 pm            Dr. Pepper Slam Dunk Competition

1:00 – 2:15 pm                Boys C/D Game

2:30 – 3:45 pm                Girls C/D Game

The finalists for Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball will be announced after the Regional Championship games.  Committees are also choosing the recipients of two $2,000 academic scholarships awarded to one boy and one girl member of the All – State Academic Team, and two Spirit of the Game Award winners who embody the spirit of the sport, exemplify sportsmanship, support and inspire their teammates and coaching staff, and show an ability to overcome obstacles and boundaries.

The 2018 All-Star Games mark Maine McDonald’s 30th consecutive year as lead sponsor of this event.  Net proceeds from the games benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine.  Last year’s All-Star Weekend raised a record $47,895 for Charities.  This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000.
