Killed Tuesday night were 37-year-old Amy Stiner of Machias and 38-year-old Melissa Moyer of Sunbury, Pa.

The Maine Warden Service responded to a search for the women, who became lost near Roque Bluffs State Park. A landowner found them and their dog and gave them a ride to a residence. Authorities picked them up and took them back to their car.

A short time later, the women called to say they had driven their vehicle into the water. The warden service responded, but couldn't find the car or the women. The car was later found underwater.
