Since 1879 Nubble Light in York has been guiding ships away from the rocky coast and on to safer waters. The lighthouse was built on a 15,000 dollar budget and up until 1987 was operated manually. In July of '87 resources to pay for the lighthouse service dried up and the Nubble Light was automated.

Today the Lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction and with good reason. The location is picture perfect and steep in history.
