Considering there are fewer than 100,000 people in the State Of Maine who claim German heritage, we have a lot of Oktoberfests!  Here are some of the best:

Swine And Stein (Gardiner, October 8th) - Water Street is closed down for a huge street fair featuring music, pork products, and of course, BEER!  Get more details here

Acadia Oktoberfest (Southwest Harbor, October 7th and 8th) - This 2 day event takes place at Smugglers' Den Campground.  Get details here

Oktoberfest Brewfest Weekend (Casco, September 23rd through 25th) - Held at Point Sebago, it is an adults only weekend featuring music, craft vendors, scenic boat rides, and Maine made beers and wines.  Find more details at the Point Sebago Website

Attitash Oktoberfest (Bartlett NH, October 8th) - Even though it is kind of a haul from Central Maine, it is worth checking out.  Actually, it's the perfect destination for a fall family roadtrip.  In its 19th year, the Attitash Oktoberfest features music from King Ludwig's Band, German food, athletic competitions (stein holding and barrel rolling, anyone?), and beer!  more details here
