A child has died in Penobscot County after an incident involving a dog.

Saturday at 5:15 pm, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Moody Mills Road in Corinna concerning a dog attack.

Deputies found a 7-year-old boy had been killed as the result of the attack.

Sheriff Troy Morton says this remains an active investigation led by Sheriff’s Office investigators.

Police say no other people were injured during the incident. The dog has been impounded.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mayo Ambulance.

A press conference is expected to be held Monday.
