World Kindness Day Today.  How should be celebrate. Mainers are kind.  Kinder than most. And some are kind to a fault. Whatever that means.

We cannot control the rest of America.  Or certainly the rest of the world.  All we can control is ourselves and what we do and don’t do.

And it is a bonus that so many Mainers think kindness.

We could pull out statistic after statistic about how Mainers step up when someone in their community is in need. And even without that. A smile. A nod. A hello. And a sense of “wanting what is best for everyone.”

So as the rest of the world observes World Kindness Day, we can feel good on the inside and smile when we see a fellow Mainer, and know that we are practicing kindness every day, without a special day designated.

Sure, it is not perfect.  The event in Lewiston is still fresh in our minds, as we think of the families directly affected, and pledge to remain Lewiston Strong.

But with today being World Kindness Day, go forth and commit random acts of kindness. It makes you feel good, and it really is an easy thing to do. Be Kind with people you know. People you have no idea who they are. Simple acts or complex.  Small or Large. Be kind.  And feel good that when it comes to a kind place to be, we are there.
