The New Brunswick government is investing nearly $80,000 toward the development of a new community park in northern Carleton County.

Andrew Harvey, Minister of Environment and Local Government visited the site in Beechwood on Monday to officially mark the beginning of work.

“Investing in community infrastructure is vital to building and maintaining strong communities,” Harvey said. “We’re proud to support important projects, such as the community park in Beechwood, that help improve the quality of life of our residents.”

Development of the Beechwood Community Park will include land development, a gate and fencing, boat docks, a boat launch, picnic sites and a pavilion.

The province is investing $79,000 in the $195,500 project, according to a news release from the Regional Development Corporation. Additional contributions will be made by N.B. power, the community and community partners.
