Woodstock Area Man Charged With Murder of Elderly Woman

A 19-year-old man who lives in the Woodstock area has been charged with the murder of an 82-year-old woman at her home in Richmond Corner, New Brunswick.

The RCMP was called to the home on Route 555 in Richmond Corner, just west of Woodstock Saturday morning after a family member discovered the body of Sarah Kennedy inside the home.  According to New Brunswick RCMP, a suspect was arrested and taken into custody late Saturday.

19-year-old Kyle Edmund Scott, formerly of Harvey Station, has been charged with second degree murder.  He is scheduled to appear in Woodstock Provincial Court on Thursday, October 10th to enter a plea.

Police said Scott was arrested driving Kennedy's vehicle, which had been stolen from her property.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted Monday to determine the exact cause of death.  The investigation is ongoing.
