Southeast District RCMP is investigating an early-morning collision Monday between a car and a school bus that claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman.

Shediac RCMP responded to the crash on Route 133 in Grand-Barachois just after 7:30 a.m. Police say it appears that a car struck the back of a school bus while the bus was stopped to pick up students. No students were injured in the collision.

RCMP say the car was pinned under the bus and the driver needed to be extracted from her vehicle. The car's driver and lone occupant, a 22-year-old woman from Haute-Aboujagane, was transported to hospital where she passed away.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. We'll update this post as more information becomes available.
