A 46-year-old Washburn man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree Friday night on Griffin Ridge Road in Mapleton, said the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office.

According to Deputy Sheriff Rob Thibeault, Willard Easler’s Blazer left the road and hit a tree, trapping him in the vehicle. He was extricated by the Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman Fire Department, said Sheriff Darrell O. Crandall. Crown Ambulance took Easler to TAMC. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, said Crandall. Easler didn’t have a seat belt on and was the only one in the 1994 Chevrolet. The air bags deployed. The crash is being investigated.
