A warm December saw a slide in fuel prices for the state of Maine.

We're in the midst of winter, but the price of heating oil in Maine has been tumbling.

This week, the Governor's Energy Office said the average statewide cash price has dropped 9 cents in the last three weeks and is now $2.86 a gallon. Kerosene also saw a 9 cent decrease from three weeks ago. It's now $3.45 a gallon. And propane had a more modest drop of 2 cents from three weeks ago, falling to $2.87 a gallon.

According to the Governor's Energy Office, crude oil prices fell nearly 40 percent from early October into December before making a small rebound. But, the price of heating oil has continued to slowly fall in the last few weeks, owing to warmer temperatures in December.
