‘Walking Dead’ Officially Renewed for Season 8, Cliffhangers and All
Time will tell if The Walking Dead can undo the fan ire that came with Season 6's cliffhanger finale, but time they certainly have. One week out from Season 7's premiere, The Walking Dead confirms that its endless parade of undead misery will continue through Season 8, and hit a major milestone at that.
AMC confirmed the news at the outset of its two-hour retrospective special The Walking Dead: The Journey So Far, one week out from next Sunday’s Season 7 premiere, “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be.” As teased at New York Comic-Con, the Season 8 premiere will also mark the series’ 100th episode, and sure to prove doubly violent as such.
So says AMC, maintaining its same lack of surprise every year:
Eeny, meeny, miny, more. What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us.
In the meantime, next Sunday will bring us the long-awaited answer to Negan’s Season 6 finale kill, so stay tuned for additional sneak peeks to come.
