UMaine and Vermont played a scoreless first period and then the floodgates opened in the first 11 minutes of the second period. The Catamounts scored four times and were on their way to a 6-2 win over the Black Bears.

Maine's Rob Michel got one back with 30-seconds to go in the period but that was as close as the Bears would get.

UMaine was 0-for-7 on the powerplay. UVM waas 1-for-6.

Black Bear goalie made Rob McGovern made 18 saves before turning things over to backup Stephen Mundinger. Stefanos Lekkas made 36 for UVM.

The loss drops Maine to 4-7-2 (HE 1-4). Vermont is 7-3-1 (HE 3-2).

Game two of the series in Burlington is Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
