The largest fundraiser held on behalf of the United Way is the MMG Charity Golf Tournament and the MMG Golf Ball Drop. Today, the check was presented.

MMG Insurance, based in Presque Isle, and their employees raised $29,159.00 recently and a check was presented today to the United Way of Aroostook County.

President and CEO of MMG Insurance, Larry Shaw said,

"The big reason we get so behind the United Way is the many lives it touches, from us getting involved and then how the money is spread out into our community."

Although financial donations are key, fundraisers in the community send out a strong, positive message to the community as well.

Sherry Locke, Executive Director of United Way of Aroostook explains.

"It just goes to show the commitment that MMG and the United Way of Aroostook have for the people that live here in Aroostook County."

According to Locke, the money will go to fund the 14 agencies that they are currently funding and United Way of Aroostook County programs. But all of the money stays right here in the County to help those in need.
