The University of Maine at Presque Isle softball team finished their regular season at home on Saturday against Husson University.  Before the second game of the double header, the UMPI team presented a check in support of the Children’s Miracle Network for over $500.
The team raised money for CMN during the season and wore gold shoe laces during their last game in honor of pediatric cancer.

Pictured here accepting the check is Jamie Guerrette, community engagement specialist at TAMC, which is a CMN hospital.

For Saturday's competition the UMPI softball program partnered both locally with The Aroostook Medical Center and nationally with Go4TheGoal's Lace-up 4 Cancer program to bring awareness and raise money for pediatric cancer. For their local efforts, members of the softball team collected pledges from community members and local businesses to help raise money.

The Children's Miracle Network's 170 member hospitals provide 32-million treatments each year to children across the United States and Canada. Funds donated to CMN support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care.

Go4TheGoal's Lace-up 4 Pediatric Cancer program was established in 2011 and has raised funds to help kids with cancer and their families in the local area that the funds were raised. Numerous sports teams have participated in the program all the way from the youth level to the professional level.

Monetary donations are continuing to be accepted and can be passed in to the UMPI Athletic Department located in Wieden Hall or to Coach Sara Shaw at Northern Athletic Supply located at 260 Main Street in Presque Isle, next to Big Cheese Pizza. Checks should be made out to the TAMC Foundation. For more information, contact Sara Shaw at sara.shaw@umpi.edu.
