All current military personnel, their families, and all veterans and their families are encouraged to attend. Representatives from the Maine Bureau of Veterans Services, the Maine VetCenter, the American Legion, and others will be on-hand to discuss the various programs available for veterans and their families.

“Veterans have sacrificed so much on our behalf and Veterans Day is a great opportunity to say thank you and make Veterans aware of the many opportunities that exist to further their education,” said Duane Belanger, UMFK Student Veterans Association president.  “As with many government programs it can be confusing to make heads or tails of what is available and which program(s) that a Veteran or their dependents may qualify for.”

“It is vital to our campus community, friends and neighbors that we support our Veterans,” said UMFK President John Short. “We owe them so much because of the sacrifices they have made. We are hopeful that they will come out and be a part of this Open House.”

The Veterans Open House is scheduled on Wednesday, November 8th from 6pm – 9pm in Nadeau Hall and refreshments will be served.  For more information, please call Joyce Plourde at 834-7823 or email Duane Belanger at duane.belanger@maine.edu.
