U.S. Central Scores In First 5 Frames, Beats Canada

Strong starting pitching and timely hitting leads U.S. Central past Canada in Sunday's third game.

Ohio received strong pitching from starter Mitch Massaro, 5 innings pitched and 5 strikeouts, and a productive night at the plate by cleanup-hitter, Bryan Yoder, 1-for-2 with 2-RBI, to beat the team from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Masarro conceded just four hits and walked one en route to earning the victory. Along with striking out the side in the fifth inning, the pitcher went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored while serving as the team's #3 hitter.

Canada's lineup was led by Adam De Corby, 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, and Marcus Roflik who went 2-for-2 with a run scored. Dylan Bells took the loss, allowing two runs and fanning a pair in 2.2 innings.

Ohio advances to play either host team Old Town or Asia-Pacific, with the two teams meeting Tuesday (8/4) night at 8 p.m. Canada will attempt to stay alive when they face Europe-Africa, Monday (8/3) at 8 p.m.
