A fire in Pembroke, New Brunswick late Tuesday left a man and woman homeless. The house on Route 105 just northeast of Woodstock was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived shortly after 3:00 p.m. Chief Ricky Nicholson of the Woodstock Fire Department said crews battled the blaze for about 3 hours. The home was a total loss.

 

The couple lost all of their belongings, according to Dan Bedell of the Canadian Red Cross. No one was injured, but a pet lost its life in the fire. The Red Cross is providing emergency lodging and assistance for the man and woman.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
