Two People Charged In Connection with Bouctouche Jewelry Theft
The RCMP has arrested a man and woman in connection with the theft of a large amount of merchandise from a jewelry store in a Bouctouche mall earlier this month.
Shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, March 5th, Bouctouche RCMP responded to an alarm at Place Le Bourg on Irving Boulevard. Upon arrival police determined a vehicle had smashed through an entrance of the mall to gain entry to Bijouterie Trésor d’Or.
The suspects were arrested during the execution of a search warrant at a motel on the Homestead Road in Lutes Mountain on March 8, according to Cpl. Daniel Melanson of the Southeast District RCMP.
A large amount of stolen property was recovered, including jewelry, an SUV and cigarettes. A loaded firearm was also seized during the search, Melanson said.
Twenty-seven-year-old Justin Roberts and 27-year-old Ashel Tamie Lynn Ward were charged with break, enter and theft in Moncton Provincial Court. Both remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police say the investigation is continuing.
