Two New York Men Arrested For Selling Cocaine From a Bangor Motel

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says two New York men were arrested Thursday night for allegedly selling crack cocaine from a Bangor motel room.

MDEA agents executed a search warrant at an Odlin Road motel room where they suspected illicit drugs were being sold, according to Commander Peter Arno.

Seized from the motel room was approximately 20 grams of crack cocaine, with a street value of $2000, and nearly $20,000 in suspected cash proceeds from the sale of the drugs, Arno said. Other evidence of drug trafficking was also seized. Agents believe that the pair had rented the room just two days prior.

Agents arrested 28-year-old Jelani Witt and 22-year-old Rodney Tyler, both of Brooklyn, New York for Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Crack Cocaine). Bail was set at $100,000 cash.

Tyler was also wanted on an outstanding NYPD warrant charging ‘Violation of a Court Order,’ Arno said.

Both Tyler and Witt were transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

“The investigation, conducted my MDEA’s North Central Office in Bangor, highlights the continued threat associated with out of state traffickers relocating to cities and towns throughout the State of Maine for the sole purpose of selling illicit drugs,” Arno said.

MDEA was assisted by the Bangor Police Department. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely.
