Ben True became the first American runner to ever win the TD Beach To Beacon 10K Race held in Cape Elizabeth on Saturday.

True, who recently was vying for a spot on the United States Olympic roster in the 10,000 meter competition, won with a time 28:16.  He came in 11 seconds ahead of Dathan Ritzenhein of Michigan.  True is originally from the state of Maine, but now is billed from New Hampshire.

Mary Keitany of Kenya shattered the previous women's mark while winning the event with a time of 30:44.  The previous record was set at 30:59.
