Jan. 5 - Trooper Bell responded to I-95 North in New Limerick for a tractor trailer that went off the road and jackknifed. It was a very windy day, which contributed to the crash. Additionally, the driver had a cold and began coughing hard which led to the trailer truck drifting into the shoulder and hitting a snow bank. The driver couldn’t maintain control of the trailer truck and ended up jackknifed on an embankment. There was no injury, but the truck did have significant damage to its cab.

Jan. 6 - Trooper Darcy and Sgt. Fuller responded to a residence in Island Falls for a family fight. As a result, a 20-year-old male was bail checked and issued a cease harassment order.

Jan. 6 - Troopers Lilley and Darcy responded to Patten for a report of a domestic assault. After speaking to parties involved, female was arrested for domestic assault and she later made bail.

Jan. 7 - Troopers Sylvia and Flynn responded to a residence in Monticello for a male allegedly threatening to burn his ex’s house. As a result the 40-year-old man was arrested and charged with domestic violence terrorizing.

Jan. 7 - Troopers Darcy and Doody participated in details at the Governor’s Inauguration in Augusta.

Jan. 9 - At approximately 2339 hrs, Trooper Corey Hafford responded to Stockholm for a report of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. Garth Johnson, age 19 of Caribou was traveling on Main St. in Stockholm and had stopped at traffic light on the bridge in Stockholm, which is under construction. Johnson started to cross the bridge and encountered Reighel Waugh, age 26, walking in the roadway on the bridge. Johnson did not see Waugh due to her dark clothing and could not avoid striking Waugh. Johnson struck Waugh with the front corner of his pickup knocking her to the ground. Waugh sustained leg and head injuries in the crash and was transported to Cary Medical Center for treatment by Caribou Ambulance. There was no damage to Johnson’s vehicle nor did he sustain any injuries. Johnson and other motorists provided assistance to Waugh until the ambulance arrived. Trooper Hafford was assisted by Trooper Dennis Quint. No charges.

Jan. 9 - Sgt. Haines responded to Tactical Team activations in Wellington and Windsor.

Jan. 10 - Trooper Saucier responded to Silver Ridge Twp. for a vehicle off the road and as a result arrested the 57-year-old Silver operator for violation of bail and OUI.

Jan. 10 - At approximately 0200 hrs, Troopers Hafford and Quint located a party involving several juveniles in Stockholm. After investigation, eight (8) juveniles were summonsed for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and one male juvenile was summonsed for providing a place for minors to consume alcohol.

Jan. 10 – Trooper Doody investigated the death of a 67-year-old Mars Hill man after he was found unresponsive in his bathroom. Through investigation, Trooper Doody learned that the male was suffering from several major illnesses and the death was determined not to be suspicious. The doctor of the deceased will sign the death certificate.

Jan. 11 – Trooper Bell assisted an Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office Deputy with arresting two brothers that had a total of 5 warrants.

 

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
