Troop F Weekly Police Report January 19 – 26, 2015

Here is the latest weekly report from Troop F of the Maine State Police, based in Houlton:

Jan. 19 - Trooper Darcy charged  two people with Operating after Suspension.

Jan. 22 - Trooper Saucier and Sgt. Haines responded to a domestic assault in Patten.  As a result of the investigation the male was arrested for a bail violation and the female was arrested for a bail violation and domestic assault.  While these two were in custody, another ongoing domestic with knives involved came in a short distance down the road.  With the closest Trooper or Deputy over 45 minutes away, Trooper Saucier and Sgt. Haines responded with prisoners in tow to stabilize the situation until other arrangements could be made.

The second domestic did not end up being as it was reported and neither party was cooperative.  No crime was determined to have occurred. The parties were separated.  All four parties involved have been recently placed on bail related to drug charges and domestic violence.

Jan. 24 – Trooper Recruit Sucy summoned a juvenile in New Limerickfor assault against her step mother.

Jan. 24 – Trooper Quint and Trooper Recruit Luce instructed a Border Patrol Explorer group on burglaries and burglaries in progress.

Jan. 24 – Trooper Darcy stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-95 in Ludlow. While speaking with the driver, Trooper Darcy learned that the 16-year-old male from Bridgewater had just purchased the vehicle in Palmyra.  The vehicle was unregistered, uninsured, and uninspected.  The young man did not seem to realize the issue with this. As a result, he was allowed to make arrangements for a friend to tow the vehicle home. Trooper Darcy spoke with the male at length about the violations he was committing. Trooper Darcy also contacted his parents and informed them of the situation, and issued him a citation for speeding.

Jan. 24 – Trooper Bell stopped a vehicle in Mars Hill for a violation.  When the Trooper Bell approached the vehicle, the male driver was holding his hands toward the driver’s side window so they could easily be seen.  A .357 magnum revolver was in plain view strapped to the passenger side headrest. Investigation revealed that the handgun was not loaded or concealed, and no violation of law occurred.  The driver was very cooperative and was warned for two traffic violations.

Jan. 25 – Trooper Bell, Sgt. Bustard, and Sgt. Fuller responded to Mapleton for a reported assault with a baseball bat and the male suspect being locked inside an apartment.  The Troopers were able to gain entry to apartment with permission from the property owner after the suspect did not answer the door.  Investigation revealed that the male suspect was being badly assaulted by his brother in the suspect’s apartment, so the suspect grabbed a piece a wood in self-defense and struck the victim once in the head.  The original suspect had facial injuries consistent with his story.

Trooper Michaud and Trooper Recruit Sucy spoke with the victim at TAMC and the victim was uncooperative about how he sustained his injuries. Investigation revealed that the original suspect was actually the victim, and defended himself in his own residence against an assault which he believed threatened his life due to its severity.  The male at TAMC was arrested for Assault, Criminal Mischief, and Violating Conditions of Release.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
