Feb. 8 -  Sgt. Bustard attempted to stop a vehicle in Smyrna for a motor vehicle violation and suspicion of the operator having a revoked license.  The male operator refused to stop and led Sgt. Bustard on a 25-mile pursuit from Smyrna to Linneus and back to Oakfield.  Sgt. Bustard was eventually able to safely terminate the pursuit with an immobilization technique and the male operator was arrested without further incident.  Male was charged with failure to stop, eluding an officer, criminal speed, driving to endanger along with motor vehicle violations.  Sgt. Bustard was assisted in the pursuit by Trooper Quint.

Feb. 10 - Trooper Hafford was dispatched to Frenchville to locate a 69-year-old male with dementia who had driven off the road and was not sure where he was.  Dispatch was able to track his area to a road in Frenchville that is an unplowed summer road.  Dispatch was also able to track Trooper Hafford’s location as being in the same area as the caller.  Trooper Hafford located the male walking a short distance away, he was in good health but very cold.  The male had driven his vehicle to the end of another road and gotten stuck.

Feb. 10 - Trooper Michaud attended training at MCJA and is now certified to administer P/T exams to new applicants.

Feb. 11 - Trooper Michaud investigated a complaint made by a local school that an 8-year-old boy was getting off the bus at home alone with no adult supervision.  The school suspected the issue had been ongoing for some time and had an employee follow the bus to the boy’s home and confirmed he was home alone. The boy was brought back to the school.  Trooper Michaud checked the house and found that it was about 40 degrees in the home and there was indeed nobody home.  Trooper Michaud located the parent and worked with DHHS and school officials to assist the father with after school care and other services that were available to him.  The father was leaving the home for work purposes and claimed he had nobody to help him.  Trooper Michaud will continue to monitor the situation along with DHHS.

Feb. 12  - Trooper Levesque responded to the Stockholm area after motorist reported finding a vehicle stopped in the road and the operator was either intoxicated or under the influence of a substance.  Before arriving, the operator struck the other subjects vehicle and took off.  Trooper Levesque was able to locate him on another road and after investigation he was arrested for operating under the influence.  Trooper Saucier responded and conducted a DRE examination on the operator.

Feb. 12  - Trooper Marquis started an identity theft investigation in Woodland reference to fraudulent tax returns through Maine IRS.

Feb. 14  - Trooper Saucier responded to a 911 hang up call in Sherman and found there had been a verbal argument.  No crime was committed and the female was encouraged to leave or call again if the situation escalated.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
