Feb. 1 - Trooper Michaud responded to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle when staff reported a 12-month-old baby was in the Emergency Department with suspicious injuries.  Sgt. Crane and Det. Clark also responded and the investigation into the child’s injuries is ongoing with Det. Clark being the primary investigator.

Feb. 1 - Trooper Marquis received information from Fort Kent PD of a female motorist who was driving under the influence of alcohol.  Trooper Marquis located the vehicle and after his investigation charged the female with OUI.

Feb. 4 - Trooper Darcy, Sgt. Fuller, and Warden Martin responded to a snowmobile trail in Patten to assist the ambulance service.  A 77-year-old man had a heart attack after attempting to get his snowmobile unstuck from the snow.  Trooper Darcy and Warden Martin took a snowmobile several miles into the woods to assist the EMT’s with getting the patient to the ambulance.  They also assisted patient’s wife and got both snowmobiles and their belongings out. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital later that evening.

Feb. 4 – Trooper Hafford taught the Border Patrol Explorer class about evidence recovery and crime scene processing.

Feb. 5 - Trooper Michaud responded to a Mars Hill apartment complex for an attempted suicide.  The woman was taken to a local hospital and admitted after ingesting a chemical.

Feb. 6 - Trooper Hafford responded to Perham for a well-being check on a 48-year-old male.  The man reported he was afraid that his wife would assault him again as she had done on Feb. 3rd.  Trooper Hafford arrested the man’s 38-year-old wife for aggravated assault.  This assault had occurred on Feb 3rd where the female had choked her husband, leaving a long scratch on his neck.  Trooper Michaud assisted at the scene with obtaining a written statement from the male victim.

Feb. 6 - Trooper Bell responded to Hodgdon for the report of a car off the road. Trooper Bell met the car leaving the scene of the accident and initiated a stop to ensure that the driver was uninjured and the vehicle was not damaged.  Investigation revealed that the front tires had no tread which contributed to the original crash.  The driver was warned for several violations and the vehicle had to be towed because it was unsafe to drive on snow covered roads.

Feb. 6 - Trooper Sylvia and Sgt. Haines responded to a family fight in Littleton where a 15-year-old male called reporting he was assaulted by his mother’s boyfriend.  Investigation showed the boy was refusing to follow mother’s rules and things started getting physical between mother and son over a phone so the boyfriend restrained the boy so he could not hurt his mother.  No crime occurred and the 15-year-old was told to follow his mother’s rules.

Feb. 7 - Trooper Casavant was called to assist Border Patrol with a traffic stop in Cyr Plantation.  As a result, the operator was summonsed for OAS.

Feb. 7 – Sgt. Fuller and Trooper Michaud responded to Walmart in Presque Isle to assist PIPD with a report of a man in the store with a gun threatening people.  Once on scene, it was clarified that a gun was never seen it was just assumed he had one.  As Sgt. Fuller and Officer Scull were reviewing a photo of the man, he walked out the exit and was detained.  The man had threatened to kill some people out in the parking lot because they took “his” parking space.  The man did not have a gun and was charged with Criminal Threatening by PIPD.

Feb. 8 - Trooper Marquis was called out to assist Fort Kent PD with a domestic and when trying to locate the suspect a second disturbance complaint came in at a nearby apartment. The suspect in this case was arrested after he broke through the complainant’s door and assaulted three residents.

During the week, a 23-year-old female was arrested in Georgia and extradited back to Aroostook County for charges stemming from a theft that occurred in St. Francis in September. Trooper Hafford had charged her for a felony theft and indicted her last month for this crime. The female is currently being held in Aroostook County Jail.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
