Troop F – Maine State Police Weekly Report for July 6-12

Here is the latest weekly incident report from Troop F of the Maine State Police, based in Houlton:

July 6 – Tr. Casavant began investigated a forgery case in Mars Hill where a man forged several thousand dollars in checks from his wife’s personal account while she was in the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

July 6 – Tr. Marquis responded to a family fight in Wallagrass where a 17-year-old female alleged she was assaulted by her stepfather. The assault was determined to be unsubstantiated and the female was brought to another residence.

July 6 – Tr. Sylvia and Sgt. Haines arrested a 30-year-old Bridgewater man for aggravated criminal mischief after he spray painted and rammed his wife’s car with his side by side after an argument.

July 06 – Tpr. Darcy investigated a theft from a residence in Smyrna. The suspect is also a suspect in a similar theft in Houlton. Tpr. Darcy is working with Houlton PD on the investigation.

July 06 – Tpr. Darcy, Tpr. Sylvia, Tpr. Endre, and Sgt. Fuller responded to Stacyville for a report of a male standing in the middle of the roadway holding a knife. Investigation revealed the male was intoxicated and upset about his father’s recent heath issues. No crime had been committed and the male was warned for disorderly conduct.

July 6 – Tpr. Hafford assisted Presque Isle PD as an ERT at the scene of an elevated aggravated assault, criminal restraint, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. Tpr. Hafford processed a residence in Presque Isle for evidence of the crimes and also a vehicle that was used in the crime. Forest Ranger Steve Wipperman assisted Tpr. Hafford as a member of the ERT team.

July 8 – Tr. Endre was called out for a family fight in Island Falls between an 11-year-old and his grandmother after the boy assaulted the woman and ran off into the woods by the Municipal Building. Tr. Sylvia and K-9 Merry tracked the boy a short distance and found him hiding in the bushes.

July 8 – Tr. Marquis investigated an unattended death in Woodland. The 59-year-old man had been suffering from some serious health issues recently and was found deceased by his brother. The death is not suspicious in nature.

July 8 – Tr. Casavant began investigating a theft of car batteries from tractor trailer units at a logging operation in the North Maine Woods on the Jack Mountain Rd. The investigation is ongoing.

July 9 – Tr. Sylvia charged a 17-year-old Orient man for criminal speeding of 91 in a 55 on Route 1 in Weston.

July 9 – Tr. Endre charged a 78-year-old Castle Hill man for criminal speeding of 85 in a 45 on Route 212 in Merrill TWP.

July 9 – Tr. Quint and Tr. Sucy responded to Wytopitlock of a report of a family fight between male and female. Female reported arguing with the male and he started breaking items in the house. Female had already left the residence and Troopers met with her and arranged to get her to a different residence. They were unable to locate male that night and investigation is continuing.

July 9 – Tr. Marquis responded to a report of downed power lines and poles down on Rt 162 in St. Agatha. A tractor trailer hauling an oversize load (delimber) had caught low hanging power lines, pulling the lines down along with breaking off three poles. Rt 162 was shut down for a couple hours and traffic rerouted while the scene was cleared up. Investigation into the accident is ongoing with CVEU assisting.   Full story/photos here.

July 10 – Tr. Bell stopped a car in Hodgdon whose driver was suspended and on bail for prior driving charges. The operator was summonsed for operating after suspension and arrested for violating his conditions of release. Sgt. Fuller conducted a bail check on the male passenger, and as a result, the male passenger was charged with violating his conditions of release following a positive drug test.

July 11 – Tr. Lilley responded to the Interstate in Houlton for a report of a plane that had made an emergency landing. The plane had taken off from the Houlton area and immediately experienced a mechanical issue. The pilot attempted to return to the airport but couldn’t make it back to the runway and had to make an emergency landing on the Interstate just short of the end of the runway. No traffic was in the area and the pilot was able to pull the plane to the shoulder so traffic could pass. July 11 – Tr. Levesque responded to Connor for a report of a male that had been shooting a gun and then had gotten in a car with the gun and left the residence. Tr. Levesque, with the assistance of Caribou PD, located the car and the male subject who was arrested on several warrants along with carrying a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.

July 11 – Tpr. Darcy, Tpr. Bell, and Sgt. Fuller responded to a residence in Dyer Brook for a report of an assault. As a result of the investigation Tpr. Darcy arrested a man for one count of assault and two counts of criminal threatening. The male had pressed a metal file against the victim’s neck causing a small laceration. The man was medically cleared at the scene.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties.
