An Oakfield man has been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine following a traffic stop in Houlton Wednesday night.

Maine State Police say that around 9 p.m., Trooper Eric Sucy pulled over a vehicle on the Currier Road in Houlton.  A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of various drugs, drug paraphernalia, and evidence of drug sales, according to a statement from Trooper Chuck Michaud.

Twenty-five-year-old Joshua Branscombe of Oakfield, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and charged with the following: Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Schedule Z Drugs, Illegal Possession of Hypodermic Apparatuses, and Sale and use of Drug Paraphernalia.

Branscombe was transported to the Aroostook County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court in Houlton on July 21.
