A tractor trail hauling U.S. Mail wrecked on I-95 in Augusta around 5:15 a.m. Friday morning, shutting down the northbound lanes.

UPDATE: One northbound lane reopened around 11:50 a.m. in Augusta at the site of a tractor trailer crash this morning on I-95. The road had been shut down for about an hour to remove the wreckage. The second northbound lane should be open by 1pm, after some final cleanup.

ORIGINAL STORY: The mail was heading to Bangor and was off loaded onto a second truck to complete the delivery.

The wrecked truck has been blocking one of the two northbound lanes at mile 114, with both lanes shut down to accommodate wreckers, said police.

Northbound traffic is being diverted at exit 113 in Augusta and detoured on the West River Road to Sidney. Southbound traffic is not affected.

Troopers said the driver of the truck, 29-year-old, Nzabandora Appolinaire, of Springfield, MA, veered off the road and onto the shoulder where the truck overturned. The driver suffered minor injuries. He was on his first day of work delivering mail from Springfield to Bangor, said State police.
