Police say a 2000 Freightliner operated by 39-year-old Terry Ouellette of Fort Kent was leaving the Duck Pond Road and turning onto Route 2 when the truck made contact with the power lines.

The rig pulled the lines to the ground, breaking two poles, according to Trooper Gavin Endre. Power was shut down in the immediate area of the crash.

Troopers Endre, Bell and Pelletier responded to the accident around 11:20 a.m.  The Maine DOT, Emera Maine and the Oakfield Fire Department assisted at the scene.  Route 2 in Smyrna was shut down for approximately one hour.  No one was injured.
