Emera Maine crews responded to the River Road in Oakfield shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday evening to assess damage after a tractor trailer truck struck a pole.

Emera reported that more than 2800 customers in Aroostook County were without power after the incident. The accident affected a transmission line serving customers south of Houlton.

Many utility customers have had their power restored, but some in the Oakfield area are still without power at this time.

Members of the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office and Maine State Police were on scene, investigating just what took place prior to the accident.

We're told that River Road remains closed to traffic at this hour.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
