Three Dogs Killed in House Fire, Home Destroyed

Authorities say several dogs are dead and a three-story Newport home has been destroyed after a fire ripped through the structure.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m. Saturday to find the home engulfed in flames. Multiple crews from neighboring towns were needed put out the flames.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported. WCSH-TV reports fire officials say three dogs left in a kennel were killed.

The fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the inferno.
