Although The Roots are having a lot of fun as the house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, they haven’t stop recording music together. The illustrious Philadelphia group are back in the studio working on their 17th album called End Game.

The Roots’ drummer Questlove has been posting videos of the recording process on his Instagram account. From the sounds of it, the Roots are back on their grizzly and are ready to give fans another stellar project.

It appears The Roots are working with Stro Elliot who is a phenomenal producer. If you don’t believe us, check him out on Mass Appeal’s Rhythm Roulette series.

In the videos above and below, the beatmaker is creating a funky sound on the beat machine and chopping it up with some chicken-scratch guitar licks.

According to Okayplayer, Questo has compared the production on End Game to that of Illadelph Halflife where the band sampled their own tracks and heightened up the production. (Note: De La Soul did the same thing on their latest crowd-funding album, And the Anonymous Nobody....)

“We Comin’ For Blood Man,” wrote Questlove in one of the videos.

Word has it that Karriem Riggins and J.Period are also working on the project as well. So you know The Roots are delivering the goods.

There’s no official release date for the album, which will be the follow-up to their 2014 effort, ...And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. But we are glad that The Roots are back in the studio.

You can also hear Questlove on Pandora with his fantastic radio program, Questlove Supreme.
