The Game Spends $65,000 on Prince Painting [VIDEO]
According TMZ, the Compton rapper spent $65,000 on a painting of The Purple One, who passed away in April. The artwork features Prince in his legendary Purple Rain attire but instead of the late icon's brown skin, the artist, Mad Steez, used purple paint to bring the piece together.
"@MadSteez I can't thank you enough for this amazing painting of @Prince !!!!" read a caption by The Game on Instagram next to a video of the realistic painting. "This might just be your best piece yet.... My living room belong in @hauteliving magazine now lol."
We can't disagree with that. The 8-foot portrait, which reportedly took Mad Steez 100 hours to complete, is a combination of oil, acrylic and spray paints.
This isn't the first time that the 36-year-old rapper paid tribute to the "Emperor of Pop." One day after Prince died, The Game released a song dedicated to the fallen musician called "Rest in Purple."
The song, which samples Prince's "When Doves Cry," has The Game lamenting on why legends die. “Why everybody gotta die so damn soon? / All these legends dying, God gotta be runnin’ out of room / How he die? Don’t nobody even know yet / All I know is I ain't ready to go yet,” raps the Game who called Prince a "huge inspiration" in an interview.
