With recent awards favorite Michael Keaton and a movie based on a true story about good ol’ fashioned capitalism, it seemed a little odd that The Founder was scheduled to hit theaters in August — especially when it was put up against Suicide Squad. It appears that The Weinstein Company has come to its senses and remembered how much they enjoy Oscar season, as The Founder has officially been pushed back to December.

Per Deadline, The Founder has been moved from its August 5 release to the more awards-friendly date of December 16, giving it enough time to qualify for the Oscars. The film will now open in limited release later this year before expanding nationwide on January 20, 2017. If you think that move is a bit presumptuous, audiences at test screenings reportedly love the new film, which tells the story of how McDonald’s came to be one of the most successful fast food brands in the world.

Based on a screenplay by Robert Siegel (Big Fan) and directed by John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks), The Founder stars Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, an ambitious salesman who stumbles upon an impressive fast food restaurant operated with incredible efficiency by brothers Mac and Dick MacDonald. Sensing a potentially huge business opportunity, Kroc pulls off a slightly shady maneuver to acquire the company.

Keaton most recently starred in Best Picture winners Birdman and Spotlight, and should The Founder be as good as the folks at TWC think it is, the actor may be going three for three. The film also stars Laura Dern, Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch, Patrick Wilson and B.J. Novak.
