08/26 - Troopers Clark, Quint and Ferland responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident in Molunkus. Investigation revealed a 28 year old Winn man had been traveling at a high rate of speed on the Aroostook Rd in Molunkus attempting to elude a Penobscot Deputy. The man lost control of his motor vehicle where the pavement met the gravel which was also on a corner. The motor vehicle rolled over multiple times, struck a utility pole, breaking the pole and causing power outages. The man was ejected from his vehicle during the crash because he was not wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle came to rest on the roof in the woods a short distance off the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Troopers from Troop E responded with members of the Crash Reconstruction Team and Forensic Mapping Team. There were also multiple other agencies responding to include: Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine Warden Service, as well as local Fire and EMS personnel.

Fuller was about one mile from the scene when he passed two people walking on the side of the road. Caribou PD was informed about the two people walking and advised that they needed to ID them due to their close proximity to the crime scene and the time frame along with the time of day (0300 HRS). Sgt. Fuller and Gleni tracked up to the female who was wearing the hat described by the resident whose vehicle was broken into. The PD charged the two with Criminal Attempt because they did not take anything from the vehicle. The track was 3.5 mile long.
