Police said two girls approached Smith at a grocery store in the town of Milford and asked her for a ride. The elderly woman agreed but when they arrived at the address, the girls demanded her car keys and forced her into the trunk of the car.

Smith was locked in the trunk until Wednesday when she was dropped off at a cemetery.   A groundskeeper found her wandering barefoot among the gravestones, and she was taken to the hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises.

That evening, Delaware state troopers spotted the teens driving Smith’s car in nearby Bridgeville and took them into custody.

Two girls, ages 14 and 15, were being held on $122,000 cash bonds after being charged with robbery, carjacking, kidnapping and conspiracy.

Two 17 year-old boys and a 15-year old girl are also be held in connection with the kidnapping and theft.

Margaret Smith just celebrated her 89th birthday last week.
