TAMC Fall Flu Shot Clinics Announced

The Aroostook Medical Center (TAMC) will be holding six upcoming free seasonal flu shot clinics in the region.

The schedule includes three traditional walk-in clinics, including a family one for kids and adults, and three of its popular drive-up clinics.  Those 65 and older will be able to get a free high dose flu shot.

“We are committed to the health and wellness of our community, which is why we offer these flu shot clinics at no charge.   We know firsthand that it makes a difference keeping people healthy during the flu season,” says Dr. Jay Reynolds, TAMC’s senior physician executive.  “With influenza already seen in Maine this season, there is really no reason to delay in getting this protection.”

This sentiment is reinforced by the Centers for Disease Control, which recognizes flu vaccination as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu.  The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year. When more people get vaccinated, the spread of the disease decreases, which helps protect everyone, especially older adults, the chronically ill, young children, and others who are at higher risk of developing complications from getting the flu.

TAMC’s fall flu shot clinic schedule is as follows:

Thursday, October 4 – Mars Hill Health Center, 4 - 6 pm, 106 Main Street (Walk-in Clinic) 

Saturday, October 13 – Caribou Health Center, 9 - 11 am, 118 Bennett Drive (Drive-up Clinic) 

Saturday, October 13 – Fort Fairfield Health Center, 1 - 3 pm, 33 High Street (Drive-up Clinic)

Saturday, October 20 – Presque Isle, 10 am – 1 pm (Walk-in Clinic) - Part of the TAMC Health Fair, being held in the gymnasium at Northern Maine Community College.  In addition to the free flu shots, other free screenings and a wide variety of health information will be available during the Health Fair.

Saturday, October 27 –  Presque Isle, 10 am to 12 pm (Drive-up Clinic) at TAMC’s A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital on Academy Street in the Crown Ambulance garage. 

Saturday, November 3 – Presque Isle, 9 – 11 am FAMILY FLU SHOT CLINIC (Walk-in Clinic) at TAMC’s North Street Healthcare facility.  Children’s flu shots for ages 6 months to 18 years will be provided in the Aroostook Pediatrics office and adult ones will be provided in Family Practice & Internal Medicine.
