The new “adult” Muppets series didn’t exactly pan out for ABC, so the franchise might need a bit of rehab with by returning to youngest generation. Enter a new Muppet Babies TV series in the works for 2018, the first photo of which feel much more familiar that the last series ever could.

Despite an attempt to turn things around with a new showrunner in the middle of the first season, The Muppets hasn’t really caught on with audiences the way ABC had hoped. What once seemed like a surefire hit (it’s the Muppets!) turned into a bizarre experiment (it’s a meta-fake-documentary series!) before ultimately becoming an interesting failure (shrug emoji), at best. The short version: ABC has cancelled The Muppets after just one season.

Critics, though, are divided—some think newly adult tones make for fresh ideas, while others find it could use more finesse.

Did these "million" moms even watch the original 'Muppet Show'? Because it had its share of adult humor, too.

ABC’s upcoming Muppets mockumentary series only had so much to show at its recent Comic-Con 2015 panel, but with an actual premiere as far away as September, Kermit, Ms. Piggy, Gonzo and the gang dug deep for a special preview. Welp, that was fast! Just a short while after ABC released its full fall 2015 lineup, here come the trailers. The Muppets go “adult” in the first mockumentary preview for their new series, while Uncle Buck lives, FBI agents join Quantico, and even Community star Ken Jeong gets in the three-camera sitcom game by the latest trailers.

Before he was a CGI creation, Jedi master Yoda was a puppet. Before green screens became the norm, the Dagobah set for ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ was built elevated off the ground to accommodate Yoda’s puppeteers. And before he brought Yoda to life, puppeteer and voice actor Frank Oz was best known as the man behind Miss Piggy. In a weird way, that makes the most wizened character in the ‘Star Wars’ universe a distant relative of the extended Muppet family.

'Lady Gaga and the Muppets Holiday Spectacular' (Nov. 28) was full of special guests, including Elton John, Kristen Bell, RuPaul and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

'Fast and Furious 6' is set to hit theaters next month. To gear up for this undoubtedly earth-shattering and surely unique plot, we thought it would be appropriate to join forces with another film in the league of endless sequels, prequels and trilogies.
