The Maine Attorney General’s Office says there's a recent increase in the number of Mainers reporting they are the target of phone scams in which someone pretends to be calling to collect a debt owed to the Internal Revenue Service.

Officials says many New Brunswick investors are being approached to open online accounts to trade in binary options, which are essentially a wager as to whether the price of a financial asset will go up or down.
