The West District RCMP is asking for the public's help as they investigate the theft of cable wire from a NB Power substation in Burtts Corner, New Brunswick.
NB Power reports about 59,000 customers were still without electricity Friday morning, two days after an ice storm knocked down trees and branches and power lines in many parts of the province.
Some 1,600 Woodstock area residents are still without electricity after the first major snowstorm of the season, but there is good news; a warming center has been set up those who need it.
Houlton Water Company has signed an agreement with NB Power to build a 15 mile (25 km) transmission line and substation which would provide a new international connection between Houlton, Maine and Woodstock, New Brunswick.
NB Power is strongly cautioning customers against attempting to remove, clear, or have any contact with trees or vegetation near power lines or infrastructure. This can be an extremely dangerous activity if performed by anyone other than trained professionals.
