Acadian Festival

NorState Federal Credit Union will once again be a proud sponsor of the upcoming 2019 Acadian Festival in Madawaska.

Canada's National Day of the Acadians was chosen by the first national convention of Acadians in 1881 in Memramcook, New Brunswick. The 15th of August was chosen because it was the Feast of the Assumption, a Catholic holy day celebrating the Virgin Mary. The holiday was deemed necessary to help showcase Acadians as a distinct culture.

The Acadian Festival is Maine's Largest Cultural Festival will be held July 2, 3, 4, and 5th in Madawaska.

Madawaska's annual "Grand Tintamarre" parade was bigger and louder than ever this year as it was a featured event in the 2014 World Acadian Congress.
