SUV Collision in Mapleton Leads to Power Outage, Minor Injuries
State Police say a Presque Isle woman faces criminal charges after a two-vehicle crash on the State Road in Mapleton.
Trooper Nick Casavant responded to the accident around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. The investigation revealed that 71-year-old Sharon Jensen of West Palm Beach, Florida was traveling east in a 2007 Saturn SUV and attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway.
According to a report by Sgt. Josh Haines, 37-year-old Susan Labelle of Presque Isle was traveling west in a 1996 GMC Yukon when she was struck by Jensen's SUV. The impact caused the GMC to go off the road and strike a guy-wire on a utility pole, knocking out power in the area.
One of Labelle’s passengers, a 10-year-old boy, suffered a minor head injury and was treated at the scene. Labelle was issued criminal summonses for driving after suspension and for the boy riding in the front seat as well as a 4-year-old girl who was not in a child safety seat, Sgt. Haines said.
Jensen suffered a minor injury but was not transported to the hospital. Mapleton Fire Department, Crown Ambulance and Emera Maine were also on scene Tuesday evening.
State Police say both vehicles are considered a total loss.
