Have you ever seen those movie ads on TV filled with gushing quotes from critics and thought to yourself, “I saw that movie; it was terrible. Where did they find these positive reviews?” If you have, you’re not alone — and you’re going to love ScreenCrush’s newest series, Critics Are Raving, which balances the cinematic scales with trailers full of slightly more accurate (and slightly more negative) lines from reviews. Real critics. Real quotes. Really bad movies. That’s what’s Critics Are Raving is all about.

On our debut episode, one of the most successful (and disappointing) movies of last summer: Suicide Squad, the DC Extended Universe adventure about a team of bad guys forced to work for the U.S. government because no one in the Department of Defense thought to ask heroes to protect us from threats first. The movie made almost $750 million worldwide, but received a lowly 26 percent on the critic-aggregating website Rotten Tomatoes, which gave us plenty of options to choose from when putting together this video.

This is our first Critics Are Raving trailer, but there are more on the way — if you’ve got a movie you’d like to see featured, let us know in the comments section below or send us a tweet or Facebook message. In the meantime, check out some more videos on Suicide Squad, including You Think You Know Movies?, You Think You Know Comics?, and ScreenCrush’s spoiler-filled review. I can assure you, we were not raving about this movie.
